The Vital Group of Companies is an integrated Alberta-based energy services and engineering company that uses its Energy-as-a-Service Integration (EaaSI) model to offer comprehensive energy services to clients. That’s all well and good- but who are we? Why do we do what we do? And how do we do it?
If you’ve looked through our website, you’ll see the following: “We are an integrated group of companies with a diverse range of energy and engineering expertise to provide holistic energy-as-a-service solutions.” Our services list is long.
Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy engineering, sustainable project design, project management, solar PV, LED lighting, energy monitoring, and much more. But no matter what service we are offering, it goes back to the shared vision: making a difference in the world and in our communities. We aim to do this by becoming a trusted energy partner and offering holistic energy-as-a-service solutions that meet our clients’ needs. Our goals are simple: we want to become leaders in the energy services industry, leave behind a legacy of sustainability, and drive the industry forward.
Sure- but how? You might see us as social capitalists because of our strong shared set of values: making the world a better place and using collaboration to drive change. In our world, technology and innovation are the biggest disruptors to the current energy system. We plan to make use of all commercially viable technologies available to assist with reducing the energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions of our clients.
Vital Group is a community of like-minded people that want to change the world, or at the very least make a difference in our communities. We want to leave things better than we found them. When CEO Dean Turgeon started Vital Engineering in 2002, it was because he asked himself a few simple questions: “What can we do to help change the world? How do we build a company that cares?” It is this common shared goal that makes up the why of what we do.
Everyone can say they want to change the world. Saying it is easy. The next question then becomes: how are we doing that? We have adopted a unique, multifaceted approach. First, we help to reduce energy consumption. By providing services to this effect, we help our customers save money on utility bills – as well as helping to reduce GHGs and building a sustainable future.
Our values as a company also correspond with giving back to the community. We have completed many social projects and have extensive experience across dozens of Indigenous and Metis communities. This experience includes ongoing energy efficiency and solar energy projects. For example, Vital Engineering provided the mechanical engineering services for Peerless Lake K-8 school and Trout Lake K-12 school, where LEED certification was achieved at the silver level.
We also have been involved in supporting the non-profit sector by providing energy audits through the Non-profit Energy Efficiency Transition (NEET) program. Recently, 3D Energy donated an energy audit for Goodwill Industries. This audit provided recommendations on 5 potential energy conservation measures that, if implemented, would save approximately 110 tCO₂e of greenhouse gas emissions and have a short payback of 3 years.
At Vital Group of Companies, we get to come into the office knowing that what we do directly results in positive outcomes in our communities. We get to have a measurable impact on the world.
Marrying the desire for having an impact with sound business practices is one of the most powerful avenues of change in existence. Together, we can implement monumental change. Not just for our lives- but for all the lives that come after us.
This is who we are. Wanna work with us?
